Cookie Policy

Cookies are small text files that websites visited by the user send to and record on his/her computer or mobile device, to be sent back to the same websites on the subsequent visit. Because of cookies, websites can remember the actions and preferences of users (such as, for example, login data, preferred language, font sizes, other display settings, etc.) so that they need not be indicated again when the user returns to visit the websites or browses from one page to another. The cookies, therefore, are used to carry out computer authentication, monitor sessions and memorize information regarding the activities of the users accessing a website, and may even contain a unique identification code to keep track of the user's navigation within the website itself for statistical or advertising purposes. During the navigation of a website, the user may also receive cookies on his/her computer or mobile device from websites or web servers other than the one he/she is visiting (so-called "third-party" cookies). Some operations would not be possible without the use of cookies, which, in certain cases, are therefore technically necessary for the functioning of the site.

There are various types of cookies, with different characteristics and functions, which may remain on the user's computer or mobile device for varying lengths of time: so-called session cookies, which are automatically deleted upon closing the browser; so-called persistent cookies, which remain on the user's devices until a predetermined expiry date.

In accordance with the regulations in force in Italy, the express consent of the user is not always required for the use of cookies. Specifically, so-called "technical" cookies do not require such consent. These are cookies used for the sole purpose of transmitting communication over an electronic communications network, or as strictly required to provide a service explicitly requested by the user. In other words, cookies that are essential for the functioning of the site or which are required to carry out activities requested by the user.

Among the technical cookies that do not require express consent for their use, the Italian Data Protection Authority (cf. General Provision "Identification of simplified procedures for informing of and acquiring consent for the use of cookies - 8th May, 2014") also includes:
  • "cookie analytics" when used directly by the site owner to gather information, in aggregate form, about the number of users and how they visit the site,
  • navigation or session cookies (for authentication, to make a purchase, etc.),
  • functional cookies, which allow the user to navigate based on a set of selected criteria (for example, language or the products selected for purchase), in order to improve the service provided to him/her.
On the other hand, for so-called profiling cookies, that is, those aimed at creating profiles for the user and used to send advertising messages consistent with the preferences shown by him/her while surfing the net, the user's prior consent is required.

The websites do not contain profiling cookies. These sites only use technical cookies to permit the user to navigate them.
